Day 1: Macros, Micros, & Our Maker
Today we're going to begin discussing macronutrients and how they impact nutrition and health. I know it can seem really overwhelming. We’re going to take it slow and explain things simply. We will also talk about some of the misinformation (because everything on social media is TRUE, right?). Hopefully, by the end of this blog series focusing on macros and micros, I’ll have eliminated any confusion, because sometimes it feels like we have to be science nerds to really understand some of this information.
But before we get into
macros/micros, we are going to start with what should be the very foundation of
our lives, our nutrition, our everything…the Bible. Yes, the Bible
actually tells us what to eat and how to eat well, and what we need to do to
live well so that we are in a place where we can do Kingdom work
well.
19 What? know ye not that your
body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye
have of God, and ye are not your own? 20For ye are bought with a price:
therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.
These are actually the Bible verses that inspired my own personal soul rejuvenation and I use these verses daily with my 1:1 clients who are focusing on their health.
We hear these verses
repeatedly. “Our body’s a temple”. But what does that really mean?
So if you knew that God or Jesus or the Holy spirit was coming to your physical house, you would want to make sure that your home was free of distractions.
I’m not talking about the Mary
versus Martha cleaning and such, but you’d definitely want your home to be
presentable and welcoming, right? A place that fostered your ability to
just “be” with Jesus and absorb everything He had to say. A place where
Jesus could provide you with God and the Holy Spirit. If Jesus came down,
to sit with you on your couch and have a conversation, you would want to be
totally present.
Our bodies are that temple.
So, if our bodies are full of things that are not creating an environment
pleasing and hospitable for the Holy Spirit to be able to work within, we won’t
be able to hear those messages clearly.
Furthermore, we won’t be able to go forth and use our bodies and our minds in the ways God designed them to be used. Most importantly, if our bodies aren’t well-maintained, we won’t be able to accomplish God’s ultimate goal for us: Kingdom work.
We should want our bodies to be clean, open and ready. Our bodies should be prepared for the direction the Lord is leading us.
You may be wondering, “How do I prepare my body so that I’m ready to heed the Lord’s calls on my heart”?
Much of the physical preparedness is a result of nutrition, which leads us back to the macronutrients and micronutrients. I’ll start the discussion by simply saying the following:
- Macro means
big
- Micro means small
A BOLD and UNIQUE program for sustainable, God-led weight loss!
- If you've tried all.the.things: pills, patches, programs, supplements and either failed to lose any weight OR ended up gaining all that lost weight back (and then some, if you're honest)
- If you wholeheartedly agree that your body is a temple but know that you aren't a size or weight God wants you to be
- If you see very clearly how excess weight is holding you back as a Mom, wife, and is driving a wedge between you and the Lord
- BUT, you KNOW the Lord made you for me and you desire accountability and long for a trusted, Christian professional to help you break through the chains of emotional eating, binge eating, crazy fasts, and feeling self conscious in social settings and in your own skin...
